Here’s a new photo that I’m extremely happy with. The St. Johns Bridge is a beautiful gothic-styled bridge from the 1930s on Portland’s northern edge, and is something of a photography magnet. I’ve been drawn to it myself with some mixed results in the past, but this shot certainly hit the mark. I used my new 6xND filter to lengthen the exposure time up to 30 seconds, even though the sky was still quite bright: the sun had set, but that beautiful summer dusk was lingering on. The combination of that glorious purple gradient in the sky with the light streams left by vehicles on the bridge add up to a very satisfying shot.
