Melbourne Electric Railway Timezones, 1926

An incredible isochrone map of Melbourne, Australia’s electric train network in 1926. Examination of the map reveals that the time contours were first drawn in pencil on top of a base map, then inked and finally, hand tinted with watercolours. Restoration of this map was performed with great care to remove age marks and discolouration while still preserving the original draughtsman’s line work.

Available as a 24″ wide by 22″ high poster, with a 1″ white border on all sides. One of my favourite maps in the collection so far.

Each poster is printed on-demand using fully archival, UltraChrome inks on Moab Lasal Matte, a beautiful, brilliant white, 230gsm (11 mil) alpha cellulose paper which is acid- and lignin-free. Each print is carefully inspected, wrapped in pH-neutral paper, then rolled and placed in a sturdy chipboard tube for shipping.
